I went up before sunrise with two rolls of film and came back with one usable frame. The fog sat in the valley and refused to lift until nearly nine. Some mornings the photograph is just an excuse to be outside.
Notes for next time: bring the yellow filter, and don't trust the light meter in flat light.
On keeping a small archive
A friend asked why I still print contact sheets. The honest answer is that a photo I can hold gets remembered, and a photo in a folder gets forgotten. The archive is small on purpose.
Three lenses, one year
An experiment: one year, three focal lengths, nothing else. It turns out constraint is its own kind of freedom. The 35mm did most of the work.
